Buzz Power
Buzz Power was born of two family passions: a love of beekeeping and running and cycling in the great outdoors.
Our founder and Apiarist-in-Chief, Tony, has been keeping bees for many years and his son Ed, a seasoned marathon runner and long-distance cyclist, suggested that a honey-based carbohydrate would be an excellent substitute for maltodextrin-based energy gels.
Like many competitive runners and cyclists, Ed found conventional maltodextrin-based energy gels an “unpleasant necessity”.

Reuse, Repair & Recycling Stalls

Clothing Clinic – Mending & Swap Shop
Bring along your clothes to the mend or swap at the Clothing Clinic
ByKatyMac and her team of Festival volunteers will be operating from stall number 27 for clothing swaps and stall number 28 for clothes mending.
At the clothes swap stall no. (27) you can either just donate clothing or swap the clothing you bring for other clothing donated either prior to the Festival through the Festival Shop in Colchester’s town Centre or brought to the festival by visitors on the day. At the end of the Festival, any remaining clothes are stored for future events or disposed of thoughtfully either to fabric recycling through the council or to charity shops.
At the mending stall no. 28 there is a mending table where you can bring your clothing that needs mending and KatyMac and her team will show you how. This can include but not be limited to the shortening or lengthening of school uniforms, the patching of trousers, the altering of clothes to make them fit better or just the sewing on of replacement buttons.
The objective of these stalls and their activities is to help prevent waste and increase the longevity of peoples’ clothing. It is not exactly a workshop more of a participation event.

Recycled Weaver
What started as wanting to learn how to weave willow has become a small hobby, making recycled magazines and newspapers into really useful items and products.
I originally wanted to learn how to do willow weaving, and so began experimenting using paper from my recycling bin. Over time I have used magazines, newspapers, books, maps and sheet music in various ways, and try to sort the resulting weaving straws into colours so I end up with bins of largely one colour as best I can. I’ve also tried VHS tape, plastics bags and cat food sachets (!), with less successful results.

Save Middlewick Ranges
The Save the Middlewick campaign group was set up in 2016 in response to Colchester Borough Council’s decision to include the site within the Local Plan.
This important Local Wildlife site and much loved green space is a safe haven for our depleting wildlife and a green lung for residents in our otherwise heavily congested air.

Women’s Institute Climate Ambassadors
In 1915 the WI set out to give women a voice and to be a force for good in the community. Since then, our membership and our ambitions alike have grown tremendously. Today, it’s the largest women’s organisation in the UK and prides itself on being a trusted place for women of all generations to share experience and learn from each other and together to influence local, national and international affairs.
At the outset, the WI was mainly led by women who were involved in the suffrage movement, so campaigning is part of its DNA. During World War II, it played a vital role in growing and preserving food and looking after evacuees. It has played a significant part in founding national and international groups such as Keep Britain Tidy (1960) and the Fair Trade Foundation (1992). The WI also has a proud history of taking action to protect the environment and the Climate Ambassador role was created in 2017 to provide further support for WI members who want to take local community action on environmental matters.
The national environmental campaigns which WIs in Essex have chosen to support include the following:
Climate Change – As a founding member of The Climate Coalition, we work to protect what we love from climate change, and lobby politicians to prioritise tackling the issue.
End Plastic Soup – Our campaign explores the scale of microplastic fibre pollution and calls on the government and industry to develop solutions to the problem. It also tackles Fixing Fast Fashion.
Food Matters – This campaign to reduce food waste and tackle food poverty encourages members and supermarkets to cut food waste and work more widely to address the issue of increasing food poverty.
SOS For Honeybees – Since 2009 we have been campaigning to raise awareness of the plight of bees and how we can take action to decelerate the decline of our UK honeybee population

Lotus Love Yoga
Namaste! I share authentic, creatively inspired Vinyasa Flow, Dharma Yoga and Yin Yoga in Colchester, Essex.
I believe and embody that authentic yoga sadhana naturally cultivates sacred space, transcendence and transformation; culturing a way of life that elevates the yogi beyond perceived limitations to fulfil their own heart’s calling.
My expression of yoga inspires elevation and freedom of being; creates connection and community; awakens an intuitive knowing that love is the highest. This expresses as universal compassion and values and virtues that bring the best of life. There is gratitude for the beauty of nature and the nature of all beings. My heart intention is to share the way, elevating hearts and souls to know their own true nature and potential beyond the wildest imagination.
